Died 28 November 1881 .
The above elderly sister died on the 28 th of last month aged 83 years. Even though her health was not good for several years she was still able to follow her religious faith regularly and until a few months before her death. She was very faithful to her religion. She spent her life doing what she could in her faith and towards Christ. She spent her whole life in her faith not giving up on it at the end.
She was baptised at Y Gelly a few years ago by O. Griffiths her minister. As a result she felt that a heavy and painful burden had been lifted similar to the pilgrim Bunyan when he saw the cross and when the weight fell off his back and he was buried out of sight. In her new position her quiet and peaceful thoughts helped her weak body to the extent that it gave her new life. From here until the end she worked with all her energy and was always happy to help in any deserving cause as could be seen in the societies and religious buildings she attended. She was very faithful to the end and when the end came she was ready to fall to her knees quietly and comfortably and be in the care of the Lord.
She died peacefully as a baby would fall asleep in its mother’s arms. She was married twice and was the mother of 10 children, three of which went to their graves before her. There are 40 grandchildren alive and 12 have died. 68 great grandchildren are alive and 19 have already gone to heaven. While alive she had a total of 149 descendants in both worlds. It is not surprising that the world multiplies when so many spring from the same root in one lifetime. Let’s hope that all the young shoots grow fruitful for the Lord.
The Friday following her death a large congregation came together to escort her remains to the family grave in Carmel. The service was conducted by the author of this obituary. Our sister was well respected by all who knew her. Everyone had a kind word for her and I believe also by the Lord Almighty. Peace to her remains for evermore.
